WATA Rose Hall Triathlon October 23, 2010

Triathlon Entry includes:

Gifts & Awards
All participants receive a mesh bag, RHT T-shirt, bib number, bike number, helmet number & timing chip. Finishers will receive a finishers' medal at the finish line. Overall awards go to the top 3 overall finishers in the Sprint and Beach Duathlon.

Awards go to the top 3 finishers in each of the following Triathlon age groups:
U15, 15-24, 25-34, 35-44, 45-54, 55-64, 65-69 and 70+

Awards go to the top 3 finishers in each of the following Duathlon age groups:
U15, U25, U35, U45, U55, U65, U70

Awards also go to:
Top 3 Sprint Triathlon relay teams in:

  • Men
  • Women
  • Mixed (two or three members in a relay

Competition Rules
Minimum age on race day Rose Hall Triathlon /Sprint on Race day - 13y.
Minimum age on race day for Beach Duathlon - 13y.

Transition Area and Body Marking
TRANSITION OPENS AT 5:00AM ON RACE MORNING
Parking at empty lot beside Shoppes At Rose Hall- Saturday, October 23, 2010, 4:00am-12:00 noon

REGISTERED COMPETITORS ONLY ALLOWED IN TRANSITION AREA -NO EXCEPTIONS.

The Rose Hall Triathlon is designed as a 2 transition race. Must show race bib, number on bike & swim cap to get in TA. Will mark your arm/leg if not already marked. Put your bike into the area marked with your swim wave #. Be sure to have your timing chip securely around your ankle before leaving TA. TA must be cleared by 6:15am. All bikes must be out of transition area by 12:00noon. Number on bike must match race bib held by person removing it from TA.

Swim

  • Swim transition must be cleared by 6:15am
  • Wetsuits not are allowed
  • You will receive a colored swim cap at Registration which you MUST wear to start with your wave. Please write your race number on your cap.
  • All swimmers will be started in swim waves of no more than 60 people. Check at Saturday check-in for the time of your wave.
  • Please be on the beach at the swim start no less than 15 minutes before the scheduled start of your wave
  • The swim course will be guarded exclusively by Encinitas Lifeguards.
  • If not familiar with ocean swimming, please practice surf entry and exit prior to event.
  • Relay teams have to pass for timing strip a transition area's to team members.

Bike

  • Handlebar ends must be plugged.
  • No riding in transition area - mount & dismount in designated zones outside TA.
  • Must use legal bicycle helmet which must be buckled when riding on the bike.
  • Do not "draft" behind other riders (see rules above).
  • SPRINT - Watch for turnaround at end of 1st loop - next to TA.

Good Ideas:

  • Have brakes and wheels checked pre-event
  • Have handlebars plugged.
  • Carry spare tubes & inflator.
  • Carry water bottle (no aid on bike course).

Run

  • SPRINT - look for your sign to turn off course after the Cinnamon club house

Finish Line
The Finish Line is at Rose Hall Great House, in the middle of the EXPO, On the Lawns of the Rose Hall Great House.

Bib Numbers
Have yours pinned to the front of your body where the timers and photographers can see it.

Timing

RHT 2010 well be a manual timed race which will include splits at each transition.

Drop Out

If a team competitor wiches to drop out, team members may continue the race but their overall time will be disqualified.

Aid & Comfort Stations

Water and GATORADE replacement drink will be available at:

  • Transition Area near entry from swim
  • On road near the start of the run
  • Approximately every mile on the run
  • In the post-race area just past the finish
  • Most of the available toilets 10 are on the beach - both portable and built-in. There are some toilets available in TA for post-bike / pre-run use.

Medical & SAG
There will be a sag wagon on the course following the last cyclist and runner. There are also two
ambulances on the course and a staffed medical tent at the finish.

CONDITIONS THAT WE SHOULD BE AWARE OF!

Post-Race Party
The fun begins at the finish line and goes until 12:00pm. Meet family and friends at the end of the FINISH chute. Join our Hall of Fame announcers for food, live music, Wellness Festival, music concert and a great awards presentation.

Free Product Raffle - at the Awards ceremony on the Show Stage in the EXPO - we give away great stuff! The prizes are given away based only on your race numbers - BUT - You have to be there to win!
